We’re just back from a gathering of friends and photographers at Higgins. It was dubbed a “Going Away” party for our friend, Michael and really, it’s just another way to say, “Let’s get together and have drinks.” Luckily for me, food is usually included (grin).

Anyhoo — As I’ve mentioned before we spend a lot of time with friends and photography. So this still being a new year, plans are being made on when we friends and photography can get together again soon.

One big event in June will be the Festival of the Photograph in Charlottesville, VA. Though there are exhibits through June related to the Festival, the core deal seems to be happening June 7-9. Eugene Richards, William Albert Allard and Sally Mann will be “interviewed” a la Inside the Actor’s Studio by NPR’s Alex Chadwick and David Alan Harvey, Maggie Steber, Alex Webb and Rebecca Norris Webb are also expected to present work.

I’m looking forward to it. This is our chance to see many friends we haven’t seen since leaving the East Coast and I’m certain it will be several days of awe-inspiring, moving brilliance. This will definitely be a treat because we will probably get to see images we wouldn’t see online or in print.

So…. plan now. Tickets are expected to sell out fast. They officially go on sale February 15th at 10 A.M. If you want to have a place to sleep, book it now. Last I heard, the rooms as the Omni are sold out and there are very few places within walking distance to downtown C-ville which is where the action will be.

Hope to see you there!
