While reading an update in today’s paper about Microsoft’s bid for Yahoo, a wee blip of a news item also caught my attention.
From The Oregonian:
Polaroid Corp. is dropping its pioneering instant-film technology.
!
I immediately went online to find out more and sure enough, according to PCWorld’s blog:
Polaroid has announced it’s ceasing production of its instant film, which will become unavailable after 2009.
It’s a sad day for Polaroid users and Polaroid employees.
I suppose it’s time to buy as much film as the wallet can take. For now, FujiFilm will still be an option for those of us with compatible cameras.
Check out PCWordl’s blog for A Heartfelt, YouTube-Based Wake for Polaroid Instant Photography. It’s a bittersweet tribute.

Marlyse Comte added these pithy words on Feb 09 08 at 12:41 pmWOW - these are sad news indeed. Nothing can beat the personal touch of polaroid shots and their saturated colors and unique size and feel.
