  • My Shadow, My Kitty, “Doodles”

Today was one of the hardest days of living.

I’m mourning the loss of my cat whom I affectionately called, Doodles… It’s still a bit of a fog and I feel of another world.

She was 13 and she was suffering from kidney failure so we did what we felt was right for her comfort. I always [...]

  • Flu Fighting Tips?

Anyone have any flu fighter tips?
I haven’t had the flu in ages and this one came on quick. I’m in between fever spells so thought I would seize the opportunity to ask. OK, and maybe for some sympathy, too.
So far, I got a hot toddy recipe from a good friend. Sure beats traditional [...]

  • A Weekend Off

While I try to figure out why our photoblog at one28.net is not working with Pixelpost, I thought I would post a few photos here to share. (I’m wondering if installing MT would be better… Hmm.)
A good friend just departed for Seattle after spending a few days with us (visiting from DC) so we’ve been [...]

  • Delicious Summer Evening

It was unbelievably warm the other day so we spent the evening with friends on their deck. Just thought I’d share some happy snaps of another amazing meal.

I’ve learned to like rosé. This one is a Muga and nicely crisp!

Butter lettuce from our garden! Our first harvest. Loved the champagne vinegar dressing. Mmm…

    The guacamole is [...]

  • Slowness on Sunday

After a great Saturday night welcome-back-to-Portland dinner with our friends (My husband made the Spinach Salad with Blackened Salmon, Orange, and Red Onion recipe from Diane Morgan’s cookbook, Salmon.) we got together for a bike ride around Sauvie Island Sunday morning.
It was an opportunity for our friends to try out new bikes and an opportunity [...]

  • Light and shadows

Sunrise comes earlier these days in Portland and though yesterday was incredibly foggy, cold and rainy, there have been several mornings where the sunlight brings a smile to my heart.
It may still be cold outside, but the color brings warmth and creates magical shadows in our house.
    So lovely.

  • Climbing out of the valley

It’s been such a busy week of tweaking QuickBook files for my accountant and finishing up a magazine assignment that I don’t think I have stepped out of the house other than to feed the neighbor’s cats. Not good.
Working from home is rather odd that way… The upside: I am really productive; I get a [...]
